My last chore was proving I was competent enough to post a video to the inter-web.  I hope the copyrighted music is loud enough to get it pulled quickly.  I had done a video in the fall which had several hours put into it but that was not acceptable so I did one that took several minutes produce.  Live off the floor.  This is art.  Can you FEEL the art within the video.  The lighting at the end sucks but I don't care at 5:47Am.

The 13th day of the 13th month...

So the first week of April I got another pit firing done.  Val came out and threw some pots in.  We had very good survival rate but both of us were left wanting more different marks.

12 step program

So I did manage to get two pit firings in late March.  The top picture is from a bonfire I threw my tiles into (strategically) and the second picture is a firing I did a day later at my house.  I had used some local terra sig on half of my tiles but I am having a hard time getting results I really like but I am getting good survival rate.  One broke in the bonfire and  two cracked in the pit.
Part of the program is admitting so here it goes, Hi. My name is Dan and I am an artist.

11th day of xmas in march

Another super nice warm day and I went out shooting again.  On this day I was on a shutter frenzy.  The walk lasted about 90 minutes and I got about 500 pics.  (All were hand held, most were blurry.)
4:52AM  and I am running out of things to say but damn the torpedos, 4 hours to get it together...

The first nice days of spring showed up in mid March.  found these fungus on some wood laying in some grass.  So I got out my macro gear and shot some pics in the sun.

The middle of March and one of my stray cats eating out and playing with her food.  Or maybe she is smelling it to see if her meal is done.

8 ball

I have been tracking these crows for some time.  They nest somewhere close.  Several years ago I found a badly injured juvenile crow that died a day or two later .  Whenever I walked close to the body they would go crazy and flap about the trees above my head.  That lasted for about a month.

Lucky 7

Ok so this was another fire across the river except in the end of February.  January and February are excellent for hibernating.  I was painting and making tiles but I bouncing around a padded cell I made for myself trying to figure out my art.  Scraping away the layers to get at my artistic core.

Halfway though February I took the camera out on a walk with me and some stray animals that hang around my house.  This is the dam that is very close to my house, I can hear it on a quiet day from my house when it is on.

Blogging Blitzgreig #5

3:22AM  I also have an adaptor to use the some old manual focus lenses I have with my dslr.  This is an attempt at a hand held shot of someone burning garbage on the other side of the Saint John river.  I was using a 135mm telephoto with a 2x multiplier.

The 4th blog of the apocalypse

3:12 AM, remembering my purchase of a new to me dslr and the following learning curve that created a gap in my photo records.  This is a picture of a crow on a wire in a snow storm in early February.  Beginning to get used to the camera.

The madness part 3

So I started this painting the third week of January.  There is only 1 or 2 coats of oils on one thin coat of acrylic.  The painting is based on the top photo beside the painting.   This is a painting that may take some time as I let it dry between coats of glaze.

Post #2.  A dog waking up the second week of January.  It is a good time of year to hibernate. What can I say, I wasn't taking pictures of my work.  There were multiple reasons for this none of which could get me out of doing this blog thing so lets hold hands and share our feelings.  I feel warm in bed.

blogging blast

So I have saved almost everything till the last minute and here we go.  I think I have to put up 12-14 posts, one for each week in the semester.  My instructor kept telling me that this blogging thing was a "visual diary".  I kinda wanted to tell him that my diary has a lock both of which are hidden in my barbie playhouse and it's written in nu shoo.  But I guess I do see some the sense of it, maybe it's a habit thing.  I haven't found a place in my week to put it.
My plan is to grab a picture from each week and write some gibberish.  The gibberish shouldn't be a problem it is quite late....
